Centralized spot and derivatives
Centralized venues provide order books, account balances, and exchange-managed settlement. They can offer deep liquidity and fast matching, but capital is exposed to venue availability, custody, account restrictions, and withdrawal status. Derivatives add margin, mark prices, funding, and liquidation.
Cross-venue research needs a canonical instrument registry and account-specific fee data. Venue selection is a governance decision as much as a latency decision. Health monitoring should include connectivity, withdrawal status, reconciliation, and recent execution anomalies.
Bitcoin-linked markets
Bitcoin often acts as a broad market factor and a liquid hedge. Spot, perpetuals, and dated futures can support basis and beta strategies, yet each instrument adds different collateral and settlement assumptions. Funding is variable, and annualized basis is not a guaranteed yield.
An altcoin hedged with Bitcoin retains idiosyncratic and model risk. Portfolio systems should report Bitcoin-equivalent exposure, basis, funding, and venue concentration separately.
Solana and other fast onchain venues
Onchain markets require exact token and program identities, account state, transaction construction, simulation, compute, fee policy, signing, and confirmation. Fast processing shortens the decision window but does not eliminate contention or stale state.
Routes crossing an onchain market and centralized venue are not atomic. They generally require pre-funded inventory and a separate transfer or rebalancing workflow.
DeFi liquidity and composable routes
AMMs and aggregators expose liquidity through pricing curves rather than a single order book. Atomic contracts can combine swaps and loans, while gas, state change, MEV, contract risk, and failed attempts affect realized edge.
Bridge routes cross security domains and settlement timelines. A wrapped asset or bridged token should be modeled as its own claim rather than assumed identical to the origin asset.
Tokenized real-world assets
RWA tokens connect always-on ledgers with offchain valuation, legal rights, business-day calendars, transfer restrictions, and redemption processes. The convergence mechanism may be available only to eligible participants and can take days.
A discount can reflect illiquidity, credit, operational delay, or restricted access. Research starts with the enforceable claim and settlement path, then evaluates price.
